This investigation examines species diversity, faunal similarities, and biomass relations of benthic communities of the shallow, Louisiana continental shelf. A wedge exchange of species between the shelf and Timbalier Bay was developed.
Higher molecular weight Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHS) associated with crude oil induce CYPIAI gene expression, and this response has been utilized as a biomarker of exposure to PAHs in aquatic and marine environments.
