Effect of oil production on the ecology of phytoplankton off the Louisiana coast
Abstract
Conclusions: “Judging from the data on the photosynthetic activity, phytoplankton density and nutrients collected in the O.E>I. region at both the Platform and Control station and comparing these data with those collected elsewhere in the Gulf of Mexico, there is no evidence to suggest that production/drilling activities or structure have had any deleterious effect on phytoplankton communities on the offshore waters of Louisiana.”
