Environmental aspects of drilling muds and cuttings from oil and gas operations in offshore and coastal waters

Abstract

This paper summarized what was known regarding the effects of drilling muds and cuttings on marine organisms. From the Conclusions: “Discharge of cuttings and/or drilling muds under present drilling practices do not cause either short- or long-term damage to marine organisms at coastal of offshore locations. The environmental impact of cuttings and mud discharges is negligible.”
