The role of fishermen and other stakeholders in the North Sea rigs-to-reefs debate
Abstract
The North Sea rigs-to-reef debate has moved forward with the formation of a multi-stakeholder steering group that oversees the development of independent research. This paper discusses the role that various stakeholders have in any decision regarding the ultimate fate of a decommissioned platform in the North Sea. In particular it highlights the general opposition commercial fishermen have to a rigs-to-reef process.
