Abstract

This paper summarizes the numbers, types (fixed, semi-submersible, tension leg etc.), and locations of the oil and gas platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. It concludes that of all of the commercial fishing gear types in use in the Gulf of Mexico, the pelagic longline is the most likely to present space-use conflicts
