Influences of artificial light on marine birds
Abstract
This is a review paper and has one paragraph on the light from oil and gas platform flares. It is noted that this light is very intense and it cites several papers, only a few in refereed journals, regarding the possible effects on sea birds. It notes a paucity of research on the subject and calls for a “compelling need to legislatively mandate dedicated independent observers on hydrocarbon platforms and light-enhanced nocturnal fishery vessels.”
