The environmental implications of offshore oil and gas activities
Abstract
This paper reviews the existing literature on the environmental fate and effects of routine discharges associated with offshore drilling operations. The first section summarizes the various quantities and types of discharges and the monitoring requirements associated with each type of discharge. The second section deals with laboratory studies dealing with these discharges. The final section considers the implications of these studies in terms of future monitoring purposes.
