Marine fouling on platforms in the northern North Sea
Abstract
The pattern of marine growth on platforms in the northern NorthSea is described. At levels near the surface mussels or the soft hydroid Turbularia are dominant but at deeper levels the growth become more complex. There are some deep water species that may be significant in the operation of subsea completions. A unit has been established in Aberdeen to investigate some of the problems associated with marine growth.
