Fouling on North Sea platforms

Abstract

Fouling organisms were collected from a platform by divers whilst it
was in position, and subsequently by the author after the platform had been removed and brought ashore. Techniques used included light and scanning electron microscopy and X-ray analysis (EDAX). Although relatively few species of algae were involved, results indicated that these might have significant effects.
