Birds and gas flares
Abstract
Attraction and subsequent mortality of bird and gas flares at platforms in the North Sea is reviewed. The paper notes that “It appears that there have only been some half-a-dozen second-hand reports of the death of birds in flares in the first 10 years of North Sea oil development.” It then goes on to discuss these reports.
